Farmer Producer Organizations are playing an important role in the contemporary agribusiness scenario in India. These organizations have been helping small and marginal farmers to come together and take collective actions. However it remains a key challenge for FPOs to start and sustain business activities. To bring business orientation among the leaders of these organizations, Ecociate imparted training on ‘Business Opportunities and Strategies for FPOs’ to 7 Farmer Producer Organizations promoted by Grameen Yuvti Viash Mandal (GYVM) and NABARD in Pundri Block of Kaithal District in Haryana. Training was attended by 35 directors of 7 FPOs including female directors of these FPOs. Kirti Mishra, Director Ecociate and Santosh Kumar Gupta, Expert Agribusiness, Ecociate were the trainers for the training.
The training was mainly focused around identifying and exploring the emerging business opportunities for FPOs in service delivery domain like custom hiring centre, warehousing receipts along with Inputs and Output trading. The training also focused on understanding the local needs, available resources, social and financial strength of FPOs and its members before finalizing any business activity. This was a very interactive training program in which participants also shared various business ideas they have for their respective FPOs.
